3rd Annual Letitia Carson Symposium

Hosted by the Letitia Carson Legacy Project.

Join us for an evening of storytelling and celebration about one of Oregon’s first Black pioneers.  

In addition to short talks and conversation, we will honor special guests: the historians and storytellers who brought Letitia Carson’s story to light, and the educators whose students helped bring the Carson Donation Land Claim to life. A buffet dinner and non-alcoholic beverages will be served. 

At 2pm, before the evening event, we will lead a tour of the Carson Donation Land Claim and homestead site, in the Soap Creek Valley, ~10 miles north of Corvallis.  The tour involves about 2 miles of walking on a path of grass and mulched vegetation that is uneven in places.  We will provide van transportation to the site from a nearby parking area. Registered participants will receive detailed instructions ahead of time.  

Admission is free but advance registration is required.
